Shelley’s interest in photography focuses on remote, and forgotten and at times uninhabitable places. It is these aspects he finds most exciting and challenging to portray. In his work he is capturing space and creating panoramic vistas.
He works through a lens to record the atmosphere on film. The pictures are then digitally manipulated and subtly transformed to intensify the light and render a timeless space.
Nature and traces of man’s presence in it is one of the main themes running through this section of photographic work.
Capturing surreal and estranged places, or creating an altered reality are also key to the work.
